Anthony’s Homeport in Ballard is a great place for a more formal brunch with your family and friends. In fact, 9 times out of 10 times that’s where I meet my parents when they’re in town. You really can’t beat the view. It sits on the waterfront next to Shileshole marine. Almost all tables and booths have a view of Puget Sound.

After you sit down, they bring you a plate full of fruit and a basket of freshly out of the oven blueberry coffee cake—for no extra charge! That’s worth the extra drive time to get there. Now the Ballard, Des Moines, and Kirkland locations offer this fruit plate and coffee cake, but I’ve heard some of their other locations don’t.

They offer a relatively limited number of options on the menu compared to most brunch places. I usually order the French toast, which is delicious by the way! Today however, I decided to venture outside my normal routine and tried the blueberry crepes, yummy!  Each crepe was filled with a sweet cream filling, covered with plump blueberries. My husband, who’s a savory fan, has a harder time finding something he likes. Usually he ends up ordering one of their omelets. If you’re looking for traditional bacon and egg options, I suggest going somewhere else.

Here are the pros –
–  Free parking (and lots of it)
–  Rarely have to wait for a table
–  Weather permitting outdoor patio dining
–  An amazing view—you can watch the sailboats, kayakers, and paddle boarders
–  Free fruit plate and warm coffee cake
–  Quiet atmosphere, great for having conversations

And, the Cons –
–  Limited menu options
–  Requires driving or walking long distances

Anthony’s in Ballard is a great place meet up with family and friends for a special occasion. Brunch is offered on Sundays from 10am – 2pm.
